Hi there, I am Leen Koole, I live in the Netherlands and I love to paint. I also have a full time job, but when I have some spare time I love to go outside and enjoy nature. Experiencing nature by canoe inspired me to do some river paintings that I could hang on my wall.
Positives reactions really motivated to take this a bit more seriously.
Most painters don't like their painting to be compared to a photo, but I think it is a big compliment, because that is what people are used to nowadays.
- "I don't like art, but I like this." -
They often don't like art in general, because they can't relate to it. I think they refer to abstract art and artist from decades ago throwing paint through the studio or walking it onto the canvas. When I ask they usually like the old dutch masters. I hope to become old, I'm already Dutch and I'm working on being a master :)
As a kid I loved to draw. I never really stopped drawing, but study and work pushed drawing and painting to the background.
I did some digital painting, because it was quick and didn't make a mess, but you don't end up with a nice painting in your hands. Some of these digital paintings can still be found on my Deviant page.
So I exchanged the digital paint for acrylics. Although it was nice I didn't like the feel of acrylics and I couldn't get the effects I wanted. I still painted concept art and fantasy themes in acrylic.
Changing to oils really was what I've been looking for. I've watched all the YouTube videos I could find on painting in oils and started painting and still love it. These can be found in my gallery.
